Our mission is to support teachers and learners of English as an additional language in NSW.

The objects of the Association are:
  1. To promote intercultural harmony within the Australian community by supporting educators and all
    those with an interest in the teaching and learning of English as an additional language.
  2. To assist in maintaining and improving the standards of instruction in TESOL (Teaching English to
    Speakers of Other Languages) to young people and adults in New South Wales schools, TAFE
    colleges and other public and private educational institutions.
  3. To promote fellowship, mutual co-operation and understanding between members of the Association,
    and any other individuals or associations with similar objectives.

What we do

To achieve its objects, our Association
  • conducts expert professional development programs for ESL and EFL teachers in NSW
  • consults with and advises education decision-makers in NSW
  • provides information about the needs of our learners
  • speaks out about matters that affect our learners and their families
  • promotes research in the field
  • publishes newsletters and research reports
  • organises Summer Schools and conferences
  • sponsors achievement awards
  • works with other community groups to improve the educational achievement of learners of English
    as an additional language.
